Striking out on my "farlorene lider" at Yidish-vokh
I brought a list of all the songs from Itzik Zhelanek's books for which I cannot find the melodies, hoping that among the many Yiddishists and Yiddish speakers (and Yiddish performers) here at "Yiddish Week" at the Pearlstone Retreat Center in Reisterstown MD some of my songs would be familiar to somebody! I was very downhearted to see a good many well-intentioned people look over the whole list and say, one after the other: no, they don't know them.
I'd be more unhappy except last night I realized the fabulous sheet music collection at the Florida Atlantic Jewish Print Music Collection contains at least eight of my lost songs. Hoping they'll be able to help me with digital scans. That is a great place to send your old sheet music and old records, as they digitize them and make them available to the world at large. What a wonderful resource.
