Yosl, Yosl - Nellie Casman's famous Yiddish theater song
Nellie Casman (right, in Khazndl / The Little Cantor) and her husband Samuel Steinberg wrote this famous song (which is also called Yossel, Yossel or Yosel, Yosel). She sang it in Warsaw between the wars in a show called Khazndl (probably A Khazndl oyf Shabes). It's in the repertoire of most Yiddish singers to this very day. On Youtube you can hear Nellie Casman sing Yossel Yossel
It's a song of obsession. Zhelonek did not, for some reason (maybe lack of space), print the second verse in which the singer admits that, although she's gotten married to a very handsome guy with oodles of money, she still lusts after Yosl. I put the second verse on the sheet music.
